Road Openings for Essential Travel - Effective 3pm, Friday, November 21st

 

The following roads re-opened at 3pm Friday, for essential travel purposes only, such as removing cars from the roads, delivering medication or heath care, providing food to grocery stores, and for snow removal equipment to do its job.

 

I-90 (NYS Thruway) between Exits 46 (near Rochester) and 50 (Williamsville).

 

I-90 (NYS Thruway) between Exits 50A (Cleveland Drive) and 61 (State Line). Please note: motorists will be allowed to enter, but not use local exits (Access is allowed off Exits 53 (to I-190), 54 (to Route 400) and 55 (to Route 219)). Service areas will be open.

 

I-90 (Niagara Thruway) - some local exits may remain closed.

 

I-290 - some local exits may remain closed.

 

Route 219 - some local exits may remain closed.

 

Route 400 - some local exits may remain closed.

 

Please note, due to continued severe winter weather conditions other road closures remain throughout Western New York, including:

Route 5 (Buffalo Skyway) EB/WB between I-90 (Niagara Thruway) and Tifft Street in Buffalo, Erie County. 

Motorists should continue to avoid unnecessary travel.

 

Travel bans remain effect for

Town of Marilla, Town of Elma, Town of Orchard Park, Village of Orchard Park, Town of Evans, Village of Blasdell, Town of Hamburg, Village of Hamburg, Town of West Seneca, City of Lackawanna, Town of Alden, South Buffalo, Town of Brant, Town of Eden, Town of Aurora, Village of Aurora, Village of Angola.

 

Travel advisories remain in effect for

Erie County, Wyoming County, Village of Fredonia, Village of Depew.

Commuters register in the free, easy-to-use, online ridematching system at SouthernTierRideshare.com to find others to match with and share rides. 511NY Southern Tier Rideshare will work with organizations to create customized web sites to access the ridematching system, providing a valuable benefit to employers and employees.

BMTS (Binghamton Metropolitan Transportation Study) has partnered with 511NY to launch Broome-Tioga Rideshare, to help commuters, travelers and employers find easy and sustainable alternatives to driving alone. Through the Broome-Tioga ridematching system, users will be able to find carpool matches and get customized information for their commute when taking public transit, vanpooling or bicycling.
