Beginning January 27th, Goethals Bridge motorists should expect early morning 30 min traffic holds in both directions, multiple times a week, Monday – Friday. Holds will occur at 4:30 AM until 5AM. The Bayonne Bridge and Outerbridge Crossing will be open and are alternate routes. Thisconstruction activity will continue weekly for the rest of 2016.
Staten Island Hylan Blvd Bridges
Reconstruction resumes on the NB and SB Hylan Boulevard Bridges, which span the Staten Island Expressway between EB Narrows Road South and WB Narrows Road North. Seek alternate routes. One lane of traffic will be open to motorists in each direction on the bridges through the project. Pedestrian access will remain.
Preliminary deck repairs on the right half of both bridges begins July 7th and lasts through July 10th.
Closure of the left half of each bridge begins July 13th and lasts through early 2017.
Major Deegan Expressway Reconstruction Project
Three NB travel lanes on the Major Deegan Expressway have been reduced to two travel lanes from Exit 3 (East 138th Street/Grand Concourse) to beyond Exit 5 (161st Street/Macombs Dam Bridge) and the Macombs Dam Bridge. Bayonne Bridge Raise the Roadway Project
The Port Authority of NY and NJ advises that, as part of the Raise the Roadway project, starting February 2nd, there will be periodic 6-hour weekday bridge closures between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. In addition to the ongoing overnight bridge closures, there will be occasional daytime traffic holds and full weekend bridge closures through the duration of the project. During closure hours, all traffic will be diverted to the Goethals Bridge. More details are available on the weekly advisory page.
