WHAT'S NEW
The annual Sherburne Pageant of Bands which is the oldest pageant of bands in New York state is celebrating its 77th year this weekend. Festivities will culminate with the main event featuring dozens of marching bands parading through the Village of downtown Sherburne along NY 12, Saturday, June 6th.
Motorists should expect numerous temporary state road closures and delays in the vicinity of the Village of Sherburne, Saturday, June 6th from 12:30 PM till 4:00 PM. State highways specifically impacted will include NY 12 (North & South Main Street) between Champ Drive and South Street, NY 12B between Howard Road and NY 12, and NY 80 (East State Street) between CR 23 (Williams Road) and Union Street.
Motorists are also reminded to use extreme caution while traveling near and along the detour routes for expected heavy pedestrian and increased vehicle traffic.
Travelers with larger vehicles and tractor-trailers are encouraged to seek alternate routes during the parade to avoid possible delays and difficulty maneuvering through the area.
FIFA World Cup
Beginning June 16 and going through July 19, and on sporadic dates in between, Met Life Stadium in New Jersey will be host to the 23rd FIFA World Cup. It is expected that this event will draw visitors from across the northeast and the world to attend the matches. Travelers should expect delays throughout the greater New York City area on these days and plan accordingly. Match attendees should pay close attention to the directions on their tickets for travel to the stadium.

NYDOT has partnered with Waze through their Waze for Cities program to publish Waze reported information on the 511NY website. This program is a free data exchange between Waze and government entities and private road owners and operators. Waze is the world’s largest community-based traffic and navigation app. Waze gathers crowdsourced real-time traffic data and road information from its users. Waze incidents data identified by the Waze app are now available to view on 511NY. This information is provided in addition to official information reported by NYDOT to better help people plan their travel in New York.
